THE REST OF THE GANG
Emperor Scorpion
AKA The Bug
After our firebellies passed away, we had an open tank and were able to take in a rescue scorpion. It is definitely an interesting creature, and we do enjoy watching it eat and drink. Everyone in my family thought we were crazy, but it really is a neat animal. I hope to get some pictures up of it very soon, so check back. And, I'm always interested in hear from people with critters like this so I can see your setup for them. Feel free to email.
Freshwater Tropical Fish
AKA The Fish-kisses

The fish are pretty cool too. We currently have a 30 gallon tank, but its definitely still got room for growth. In the tank now, we have a small tropical community of Lemon Tetras, Glass Catfish, Cherry Barbs, Corys, Comets, and a Busheynose. We also have a few algae eating shrimp, which I would highly recommend. We've only had the tank since 2003, but we love it! I've been known to sit and watch the fishes for hours just like a TV. Some of them have such personality, and you just have to watch the antics, especially during mealtime. A personal favorite treat for our fish is blood worms and sea monkeys...just introduce and watch the frenzy!

Triops & Sea Monkeys & Crayfish

Thanks to my husband's odd interests, we always have one or the other of these little critters thriving in some window in our house. The sea monkeys I really could care less about, and I've been known to sneak a few in the fish tank for a tasty treat! The Triops, on the other hand, are rather interesting. They are tricky to care for, needing very specific conditions, but when they get upwards of 3 inches, they are quite entertaining. The crayfishes, at first, are neat to watch grow and thrive in the tank, but when they start eating all my live plants and taking swipes at the fish, they aren't so fun anymore. We shall see how it goes.

Temporary Lodgers

I can't not mention the critters that come into our home, but only as a short-term resident. We also own and operate Muridae Haven Rescue for small animal and exotics. We've welcome in everything from dogs, rats, mice, guinea pigs, rabbits, birds, reptiles, and more! And they have definitely made an impact on our lives, so they cannot go without their fair share of space here on this page!
