THE HOMESTEAD

The Homestead is the cage of cages...really...just take a look! We built this cage from scratch with nothing but a general idea of what we wanted. Everything just came together as we went along. I would never do it again, but am so glad we did (and so are the rats that call it home)! The dimensions of this cage are 35" x 16" x 63".

PENTHOUSE: This level contains the bedroom and master bath. In the bedroom, there is a wooden bed with mattress and bedding, bunk-style hammock, nightstand for snacks, and the room is fully carpeted. On occasion, instead of the wood bed, there will be a plastic bunk or enclosed pod bed. The bathroom has a corner toilet and a tub, complete with rubber duckies! There is also a mirror if one should feel like primping properly.

LEVEL 4: This level consists of two rooms...the ocean room and the backwoods room (both are play and sleep areas). In the ocean room, there is long, green carpet, chewable underwater creatures, and a porthole. In the backwoods room, there is a log cabin for lounging. There is usually some natural wood chews or nuts in the shell for munching in here as well.

LEVEL 3: This level is the kitchen, with attached den (cube) for after dinner snoozing. The den's lounging quarters do change on occasion to other hanging sleepy sacks, but there is always something there to snuggle in. The kitchen is equipped with fresh water, spice rack, specialty foods, and a fresh veggie counter.
LEVEL 2: This level is the living room, complete with couches, tv, snack bar, and even a portrait of the late Brisby on the wall! This room is also carpeted throughout. When the couches need 'reupholstering', big snuggle cups are found in the living room. In addition to all you see, there is usually lots of toys here too.

LEVEL 1 : The bottom level is the dedicated playroom, featuring a Wodent Wheel, various tubes and hanging toys, as well as a second bathroom. This room nearly always has renovations going on...rat induced most of the time, but other times, we just like to change the toys around a bit!

The cage is enjoyed by every rat that has lived or played in it. The picture to the left is of Peewee hanging out on the sofa. Notice the picture of Brisby on the wall... It is definitely the best cage from a rat's point of view that we have ever had!
