JINX
Pink Eyed White (Ward's Strain)
November 2002 - November 2004

Jinx is yet another rescue, this time from an uncertain fate at my university's animal facility. I first met Jinx in my Ethology class when we used her and others in some maze learning experiments. I hate to say it, but she wasn't the smartest cookie in the jar. But, she was so sweet, and I just couldn't leave her there when the class was over, so home she came, of course! I'm so glad she did because she was the best mouse we ever had.

Part of her charm was her adventures! She was an escape artist, getting out of her eventually Alcatraz style cage, on three different occasions. The last was the real crazy one...after searching for her forever, we finally decided to pick up the mess we made in an effort to find her. You want to know where we found her? Under the cat! Yeah, you heard me...UNDER the cat. The cat was sleeping in a dresser drawer and the mouse was snuggled, sound asleep underneath her. How could you not just love the little booger?

The other part of her charm was the love she gave. She absolutely loved to be touched. As soon as you started to rub her face, she was putty...you could even hang her upside down and she would just sit their with her eyes shut, loving every minute of it. I think it hypnotized her, but whatever it was, it was adorable.

Jinx lived a nice long life and her body just finally gave up as time will often make it do. She will never be replaced and is now what we will compare all mice to. She is missed!
