Brisby was
an angel and she set a standard hard to measure up to! When we were at
the pet shop one day, we just happened to stop and look at the rats. There
was our future baby...she was insistent on climbing out and all over us
no matter how many times we tried to explain to her that she was not coming
home with us. Apparently, we were wrong! From the very first day, she was the most affectionate, kissy girl you could imagine. She lived on her own and was queen bee. No one would dare challenge her...not the ferrets, not the cats, and it wasn't an uncommon site to see tufts of kitty fur in Brisby's bedding. I think that's where it all started for the cats too, who are, to this day, rightfully wary if not downright scared of the rats! Brisby quickly became a celebrity and ambassador for rattie kind. She graced the pages of the RMCA gazette several times and even had the chance to sit for professional photography sessions. Everyone that met Brisby would from that day forward look at rats in a different light. She stole the hearts and touched the lives of those around her. We could never say in words how grateful we are to have had her be a part of our lives. Brisby suffered a stroke and was eventually euthanized at home due to a declined quality of life. We made a gravestone for her, which still sits in our garden today, and we also posted an official obituary in the Saginaw News. Crazy, huh? But, all we can do is pay tribute to such a wonderful animal by sharing a piece of her life with others. Her antics and her wisdom will always be remembered and they have forever changed our lives!
